Life is not measured by the breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

Raisin Up the Nose

So I had a lovely three hours in Primary Children’s ER last night. At around 7:30-8, Brooklyn came downstairs and told me she had a raisin in her nose. I went upstairs to check it out and Bailey told me she had one in her nose as well. I took Bailey and started to look at her nose with the flashlight and I thought I could see it, but wasn’t sure with her squirming around. I took her in her room, so I could set her up on her changing table and have access to the bulb syringe. Tabatha and Brooklyn at this point were jumping on the bed. Brooklyn came over and handed me a raisin and told me hers came out of her nose. I then proceeded with trying to get Bailey’s out. I used tweezers, the bulb syringe, I tried to get her to blow her nose (she just kept sniffing), I covered her mouth and blew into the nostril without the raisin in it, I also tried to plug the un-raisined nostril and blow into her mouth. Nothing worked! After much debate with Cody, on the phone at work, I decided to take her to the ER. There was no way I was taking all three girls to the ER by myself. So I called my visiting teacher, thank God for Noell, she came over and stayed with Tabatha and Brooklyn. So we were off to the ER.

We arrived at 9:45 and were asked to put a mask on, because everyone has the swine flew, I was so excited for that. I hate hospital ER rooms! Now have you ever tried to get your three year old to wear a mask, ya doesn’t work so well. Later on I asked her if we should take a picture with her, with the mask on and show Dada, she said lets show it to Noell, so we put her mask on and took a picture and from that point on she left it on. If I ever tried to pull my mask down she would put it back up for me and tell me to keep my mask on.

So we waited for two hours and were finally put back in a room. A nurse came in and took Bailey’s vitals. Then the Doctor came in and used a scope to make sure the raisin was still there. Because Bailey was saying that it popped out, probably because she was scared at the options the doctor was telling me. He told me it was pretty deep in there. He then went to go get the ENT doctor to come look at her nose. Another person came in and took our information, charged me my $100 co-pay and then we were still waiting for the other doctor to come in. While we were waiting Bailey learned how to blow her nose and blew it out. Wonderful, my luck! I am glad they didn’t have to do anything to her, but I just paid $100 and have sat her for how long. The other doctor came in and scoped her nose to make sure. She said it was inflamed and to keep an eye on it, in case there was something still hiding. If it became stinky or pussy to bring her back in. We signed a discharge paper and left.

Cody called as I was leaving and yelled at me for not asking for my co-pay back. I told him they were not going to give that back to me. I took up space in there hospital, a couple doctors looked at her and I signed a financial sheet when I walked in. When I got home at 1:30am Cody informed me that he called and left a message with the administrative office about getting out co-pay back. I doubt that will happen, but I guess it can’t hurt to try.

Brooklyn's Adventure

So it all happened last Friday. I was at work on the Supervisor line, so not at my normal desk, where Cody can reach me. Thomas a co-worker of mine kept hearing my phone ringing over and over again. He called the number back to find out it was my husband. Thomas came and told me that I needed to call my husband right away. I called Cody and got this story.

Cody sets an alarm to wake up in the morning, when Tabatha gets up for school. His alarm had not gone off and Tabatha did not wake him up. Tabatha, Brooklyn and Bailey all share a bedroom, so when Tabatha gets up for school it is inevitable that she does not wake the girls up. Tabatha also has a chore to feed the dog in the morning and she gets the girls pop-tarts. At 8:30ish she is off to school, which is on street away from our house. At 9:05, on Cody’s alarm clock, which is fast, Bailey came up and woke up Cody and told him she couldn’t find Brooklyn. Cody got up, came downstairs to the front door wide open, the dogs were gone and Brooklyn was gone. He ran around our little townhome community to see if he could find her there. She was no where, but some guy seemed to mention that he had seen our dogs by our pool. Cody didn’t care about the dogs at that moment of course. He came back home and dogs came wandering in behind him. He put Bailey in the Tahoe and called 911. The police asked him some questions and they already had Brooklyn in their custody.

I am glad she hadn’t been hurt and she was found. Brooklyn is very independent and she is a DIVA. If she wants something she will find a way. She is also very friendly and will talk to anyone. Tabatha is supposed to lock the door in the morning when she leaves for school. This day she didn’t do that. She also is supposed to wake Cody up, if he is not already awake. Tabatha and I had a talk that day. I told her the story and then asked her what she could do, so that wouldn’t happen again. She gave me all the right answers, good girl.

The police said they had to report it to CPS because of her age. The Officer told Cody that she didn’t think anything would come out of it. Well the CPS Worker told me this was a waste of time, but it’s not his decision to open a case or not. Legally they have to meet with the parents and the child and try to have a conversation with the child. Brooklyn is three, you can only imagine how that conversation went. They even used a tape recorder on her and they had to ask her if she wanted her Mom to stay. I am glad she said yes, since she probably didn’t even understand what that meant. Hopefully nothing like this happens again.

Chewbaca?

So some of you are going to think I am crazy, but a couple weeks ago, as I was browsing the KSL free section, I found one for Airedale Terriers. This is one of my most favorites kinds of dogs. I looked at the ad and then ignored it because I thought to myself, we cant get another dog. So on my way home from dropping off Cody, he calls me and asks if I want to Llamas. What kind of question is that? I asked two llamas? and he said yes llamas. Then I asked him if he knew what it required to take care of a llama and I told him we don't have the means to have llamas. So then I told him of the add I found earlier and he immediately did a search for it and found it. He told me to go get it. I asked him, really? He called the people and called me back to go pick up the dog. Well I shouldn't say dog, because it is a puppy. So I went to pick up this puppy. He is so cute! He looks like a teddy bear, he actually looks just like chewbacca, so that is what we call him. I spelled his name tag wrong when I made it, so he is chewbaca to us. He is very smart. He still needs some training and I need to get him a shock collar for that. But Ego loves him and they play all the time. He is pretty much house broken, still working on perfecting it though.

Holiday Pay

So at my work we get paid eight hours for Labor Day and we get the day off. Now there is some qualifications to receiving this pay. You must work your scheduled shift before and after the Holiday without being more than a half hour late. So I was the designated Saturday yesterday. My shift was from 6:45-1:00.
I woke up at 6:35, nice, I am already late, but no problem I can still get to work no time without being more than a half hour late. So I leave the house at 6:45 and it takes me about 12 minutes to drive to work. I get on 215 and start driving and then I get on the 2100 s freeway. Right as I was to the 2100 S freeway I heard a huge sound and knew my tire had just blown, nice. Then I thought to myself maybe not, because I could still drive and it felt fine. So I get around the circle for the freeway switch and start going straight again and yes my tire has definitely blown. So I keep thinking I have to get to work, I will keep driving until it starts to sound bad. Right now it just sounded like driving on a flat, rubber tire. So I get to 900 W, the exit I take to get to work and the light is green, so I don't have to stop. I get to 2100 S and again the light is green to turn right, yeah! Then I hit another green light and as I am approaching the light on 500 W it is red, oh no. So I have to stop. There is a white car to the side of me and as I start to go it sounds really bad now and I know I have to pull over or else I will ruin my rim. So this white car that was on my side pulled over in the Uhaul parking lot and waived me over. Turns out he is a mechanic on his way to work, thank you Jesus!
He was like do you need help changing that, oh yes I replied. So I am looking at my watch the whole time, because now I am 2 minutes away from my work and it is 7:00. I am thinking this guy can probably change a tire that fast and I can still make it. Well my spare tire is under my car and is on a chain that you have to lower. He had problems getting the long stick thing to engage the thing to make the tire come down. Now it is like 7:10 and I am panicking. So I try to call someone at work, no luck. So he finally gets it and gets the tire back on. I cant thank him enough and speed off. I get to work and I clock in at 7:17. Ouch, that hurt, I was two minutes late. I don't know if they are going to give it to me or not, but I could really use that, so we shall see on Tuesday if my Manager can make an exception.
I called Cody later to tell him what had happened and of course he yelled at me for driving on it. If I wouldn't had driven on it I would have definitely been late and that mechanic guy wouldn't have seen me, so I know I was supposed to keep on driving and I didn't ruin the rim. The other good thing is my tires are only two years old and we have certificate replacements from Discount, where we bought them, so I wont have to pay to get a new tire either. It is just the hassle of it all, but I am trying to look at the blessing side of things.

I Don't Know How You Do It?

People say to me all the time "I don't know how you do it?" My only response back is "I just do." So lets go on a journey through a typical day of the Duffin household. I wake up a 6 AM, make Cody a lunch and get to work around 6:35 AM. I don't do much in the morning to get ready, I hardly ever wear makeup. I work until 11 AM, three days a week, drive to the airport, park in the employee parking lot, park the car, get out and walk to where Cody is waiting for me in the other car. I get in the car with Cody and the girls and drive up to the front of the airport and drop Cody off for him to work. When we get home I make lunch for the girls. I usually have some straightening to do, maybe some laundry or some other type of cleaning. After the girls eat I put them up on my bed, hoping they will fall asleep watching a video, but it usually doesn't happen. I get sometime to get on the computer or watch a TV program. If I have to go grocery shopping, that is not fun. I have learned to ignore people starring and just try to focus on the food. It doesn't help though when the girls want to talk to everyone they see. ( "Hi, are you a grandma?) Then we walk to pick up Tabatha from school. When we get home we check on her homework, then she gets some free time to do what she likes to do. I will make her lunch and look at the cooking calendar to figure out what I need to do for dinner. If we don't have left overs I will start dinner. After dinner we have bath time, reading, brushing teeth and a little bit more free time before bed. Bed time is a chore because the two little ones want to jump on the bed all night. I usually have to go in their room 3-6 times a night to lay them back down. Tabatha is usually out like a light but sometimes she can add to the chaos. After they are in bed, I get some more free time until Cody comes home around 10:15. At that time we may have a TV show we watch together or have a quick chat or something else (if you know what I mean). Then I am off to bed to begin a whole new day. I usually work 6 days a week to get 40 hours, go to church on Sunday and have to keep up with three little girls, a husband and our dog. Its not that bad! I think when the girls are a little older and it is much more homework and driving around for whatever activities they have, that will be worse. I just take it a day at a time.

Slacker

I have not updated this for a very long time! Tabatha broke our camera, so I have to use the phone as a camera, which is fine, but just not as easy to put the pictures on the computer.
On August 17Th Brooklyn and Bailey turned three. Where has time gone! They are Binky free since that day, YEAH!! I told them that the Binky's ran away because they were big girls now and don't need them any longer. We has a family BBQ and swimming for their birthday, which was fun. My Sisters car almost got towed though and the towing guy is a jerk. You know me, I had to have words with the tow hick and still no luck. I guess my negotiating skills are going down hill.
On August 24Th Tabatha started first grade. I love having just the two until 3:30! I cant wait until all my kids are in all day school, that will be a joyous day! She likes school and likes her teacher. I like her teacher as well. Her school is brand spanking new and just right around the corner from our house, it is great! The first day she came home, she brought a packet they were coloring and only one page was colored, she told me she got tired. Poor girl has to adjust to all day school. I asked her who she sat with for lunch and she told me no one and I about died. Then I started asking more questions and it ends up she sat with some kids she didn't know. I asked her if she talked to them and she told me she was too nervous. So the second day she started to make some new friends in her class and now she has some lunch pals, fwwwww!

Soccer with the Bearcats

So I am at work one day and my friend Jamie says, "Hey you've played soccer, wanna come play in the corporate games?" I told her I probably could. But although I had played for six years, I haven't played for ten+. So the day came that I was supposed to play and I was still going back and forth about it. So I texted her and I made myself a deal, if she texts me back I will go, if she doesn't I wont. So it was about 2:30 and I was supposed to play at 6, still no text. So I was pretty sure I wasn't going to go. I had made all these reasons why not to go. Then I got a text back. So I was going to go then. I am glad I went because the team has to have three girls on the field at all times and there were only four girls that showed up. Not to mention Jamie had a hurt ankle, but still played both games, the whole time, she rocks! It pretty much came back to me. I started getting better and better as the night progressed. It was really fun! So now I am planning on going to all the games. I had forgotten how much I enjoy the sport. I hope to play a little better in our next game. We had to play two games. One of the girls left shortly after the second game started, so that meant the other three of us had to step up our game. We won both games, the first against 1800 Contacts and the second against ARUP. I don't know who we play this week, either EBay or some other company, whomever won out of their game. The second game was tough, they were good. We went to sudden death and we just happen to have a rock star keeper. Wish us luck with our next game, this Friday, Go Bearcats!

Primary Answers

So a couple weeks ago in church, someone gave a talk, in sacrament, about the Word of Wisdom. She was telling us that in the scriptures it talks about if you obey the Word of Wisdom you will receive many blessings. After she was reading that, I felt something I never felt before, anger. I was angry because my Dad obeyed the Word of Wisdom like no one I ever knew. I used to make fun of him for it. He didn't drink caffeine, he wouldn't really eat chocolate because it had caffeine in it, he ate a lot of fruits and vegetables, not a lot of meat, he would ride his bike to work from Cottonwood heights to downtown. I could probably go on. But I thought to myself, where were his blessings? He was on a mission for the church when he died, at the age of 62, I wouldn't really call that a long a prosperous life. He never got to meet my children, on this Earth. Now people will tell me all the Primary answers, he could have died a lot sooner if he didn't live like that. I guess it takes me a lot longer to grieve because I never felt anger towards his death before and it has been 9 years since he passed. Everyone that met my Dad loved him! I just wish he would come home from the vacation he has been on, at least that's what it feels like. I love you Dad!

A Grooming Experience

So today I took Ego to get groomed for the first time. I went and picked him up and he looked really cute. He was really hyper, I guess he was just happy to see us. He was very jumpy too, which is not normal for him. I put him in the car and we began to drive home. I got almost home and I looked at him and noticed his tail was longer than I remember and he looked a little bigger and skinnier. I decided this was not my dog. I started to drive back to the groomers and I called Cody to tell him what had happened. I took a picture and sent it to him. He called back and said that he think I am wrong and that it could be Ego. We had never seen Ego groomed before and they look so different when they are groomed. At this point he started making me questions myself, but I knew there was no way our dogs tail could have grown. When I got back to the groomer I told them that this wasn't my dog. She went in the back to look at the dogs, came back dogless and asked if I had a westie. Ummm, no, my dog is black, Westies are white. So she went back again and brought me out a black dog, Yeah, it was my dog!! When I saw Ego I was mad at myself that I hadnt noticed I had the wrong dog from the beginning. The girl that owned the dog I took walked in right at the time too. I went to the Manager and they decided to give me a free add on to my groom next time, a whole $20 value, I guess it was better than nothing, but it took me asking for compensation, than them just offering it. At least I got my dog back and the girl got her dog back too! Here is a picture of the dog they gave me.

And here is my dog.

Sleep-Walker

So last night, at around 2 AM, I heard Brooklyn and Bailey's door open and shut to their room. I heard Bailey talking for a minute and then I heard some whining. I woke up Cody and told him to go check on the girls. He got up and then laid right back down. I asked him why he didn't go, he said he didn't hear anything. So I tried to go back to sleep, but I kept having horrible thoughts about Bailey going outside and getting lost or hurt. So I finally got up myself to go check on them. At this point it had been about 5 minutes since I heard the door open and close. When I reached the hall I had quite a fright, Bailey was just standing there. She didn't say a word to me until I picked her up and asked her what she was doing. She blabbed something to me about my room and then she asked me where Brooklyn was. I walked back into her room, where Brooklyn was sprawled out on both of their beds. I moved her and put them both back into bed. It was so strange that Bailey would just stand there and not come in our room to get us and also shut her door after she left her room, she would normally just leave it open. So this is why I think she was sleep walking. I have also gone into check on them another time and Bailey was sleeping at the side of her bed. She was standing next to the bed with her head laid on it. We are going to have to watch out for this one.

About a Boy

So the other night I had a dream about a boy. I was in my Tahoe driving to the mall. I got to the mall parking lot and went to open the car door that Tabatha usually gets out of and there was a baby boy in a car seat. A baby bottle came tumbling out of the car. The girls were sitting in the back of the Tahoe. The baby was named the name we are currently thinking of naming a baby boy, sorry its a secret, only one other person besides Cody knows this. That was about all of the dream with the baby. But I hadn't had any experiences or dreams lately about him. Although I have been thinking a lot about it. How we cannot afford another baby right now, I need to save PTO up at work, we don't have enough space here and if it is really right. Then bam, I have this dream. It makes me excited to certain extent and then my head gets back to thinking about all the work and money and time. Someday he will make his way here and if it is supposed to be before I think it is time, I'm sure God will let us know. Maybe he can help us win the lottery or something while he is at it.

Meet A New Addition

Well it has been a long time since I have had a post. I have just had no motivation to write. Yesterday Cody decided we were going to have a new dog. He found this dog in the Free Section on KSL. So I agreed to go look at the dog, I was too thrilled about us having ANOTHER dog, we just don't have good luck with dogs. We showed up to look at him and I instantly fell in love. He is awesome! The family had him since he was five weeks old and the family's Mom had his Mom. He has been well taken care of. He stays with me, he doesnt run away, if I put him outside he doesnt scratch at the door, he doesnt chew on anything, He is potty trained, he loves the kids, he doesnt bite, he stays with me outside, he knows how to sit, he is leashed trained, he doesnt bark, he knows how to come, he is healthy and up to date on his shots. He is adorable! He is a scottish/austrailian terrier. The family that had his named him Cisco, but we could not keep that name, poor thing, but we didnt want it to be too far off since he already knows his name. We named him Ego, and if you know us we have to have a middle name for our dogs which is Akuyuu, Ego Akuyuu Duffin. He is 18 months old and we plan to have him forever! He is the best dog we have ever had!

Good Day

Yesterday was a good day! Can you guess what happened? That's right, someone returned our pool/club house key. At around 8:30-9:00 pm yesterday there came a knock at the door. Cody answered it and it was someone asking if the key was our, YEAH!!! Besides that Bailey pooped in the toilet again and I found a $100 Marriott gift card on KSL for $50. Cody is using that this weekend for his paintball tournament in California, so we saved $50 off his trip. Yesterday was a good day!

Heartless People

So today was a beautiful day here in Utah, 78 degress and sunny. So at about 3pm we headed out on a walk to the park. On the way I stopped and picked up the mail. We played at the park for two hours. We are all pink now of course, but it was fun! On the way home I went to pull my keys out to open the house and the keys werent there. So I headed to the mail box to see if I left them in my box. Thank goodness my keys were there. However my electronic key that goes to my pool and clubhouse was missing. These keys are expensive to replace. Someone had to have known what they were doing when they took it. I was so angry! So I paisted a note up and put pictures of crying children on it. I am hoping this person gets a conscience or enough guilt to return it. Or someone feels sorry for us and buys us a new one. I doubt the two will happen, but I can hope. Why are there people out there that are so heartless, seriously?

Bailey's Suprise

Bailey and Brooklyn always sit on the potty before they get into the bath tub. They never actually go potty but they enjoy sitting on it and pretending. I think its good and maybe they will get the hint. Well after their bath the other night, I got them into their pajamas, as I was getting Bailey in hers she said she had to go poop. So I took her diaper off and set her on the potty and she actually did it! I was so proud! I am not even thinking about potty training, I will just let them take it on their own. I pushed Tabatha into potty training and that was the biggest mistake ever. So this time around they can do it on their time. There is no age or rule book that says this when when your child needs to be potty trained. They are doing a fabulous job, so far, I think. They like to flush the toilet and close the lid, at least they are not afraid of it. So here's to the start of a diaper free road. I give it a year before they are totally potty trained, but this was a start to something.

Dexter Going to Heaven

So this is a sad post. We got a dog in January at the pound, a Jack Russell. When we brought him home he was very mellow and then he starting snotting everywhere, he had a cold. He would also make wheezing noises, so I took him to the Vet, he had kennel cough. We cured that by shoving meds down him for two weeks. So he has been a relatively good dog, besides not being potty trained and he wasn't neutered when we got him. If you know anything about male dogs, if they are not neutered by one to one and a half everything they do is now pretty embedded into them, its very hard to break their habits. He did pretty good. He has this thing if the door opens he will just take off running and we have to chase him down and find him. He has run away a few times, its not fun. A few weeks ago one of Tabatha's friends came to play. They went outside and Dexter decided he wanted to jump on the girl and bit her coat, maybe even her. I don't know what it is with him and the kids outside together but its just not a good thing, he is too hyper.
The other day he got out and we couldn't find him for a while, finally the secretary in our ward found him and brought him home. Later that night I got a call, from someone in our ward, that Dexter had bitten his daughter. He didn't break skin or anything, but he wanted to inform us. Today I went to go get the mail, I take Dexter with me and run the whole way, to get him some exercise. On the way back we walked by a lady with a Shitzu, Dexter went up and just bit the dog and wouldn't let go. I had to drop the mail and pry his jaws off. Thank goodness he didn't do any harm, the other dog didn't even yelp, but still SCARY! I finally can not take the guilt and liability of this any longer. The previous owners of this dog and caused him pain where he feels what he is doing in necessary. I a one to think I can always fix things, but I cannot fix this dog, I have tried. I reported him to Davis County and someone is coming to get him tomorrow. I really don't know if they will put him down or not, but he has to go. I don't think he would hurt my children, but who is to tell, I cant take that risk after what I have seen over the past week. I feel really sad but I know its the right thing to do.

Celine Dion Concert

I have been waiting for this moment for the longest time. I never got to see Celine in Vegas, I don't know why I never did, but it just never happened. So In November of 2007, when I heard she was coming to Salt Lake in November of 2008, I was jumping on that band wagon. I joined the fan club so I could buy tickets before they went on sale to the public. I bought 7th row on the floor. If I am going to a concert I want good seats. Celine is like my favorite of all time, so you know I had to get the best I could. Well about 2 weeks from the concert date, Nov 21, 2008, they rescheduled the concert to Feb 22, 2009. Celine had inflamed vocal chords and had to take a break. Which I was disappointed I had to wait a year and now I had to wait three more months, but I also wanted her to be able to have a good night, so I was okay with it. I went with my sister JoDee, it was her birthday present. We went last night and it was amazing. Celine is the all time best. I don't think anyone can compare to her vocal abilities, maybe Christina Aguilara can come close, but Celine is so awesome. You can tell she loves and is passionate about singing, it comes from her heart. I idol my singing after hers. She had an awesome concert, she hit every note and she doesn't lip sing. That just proved to me even more that she is the best!

Valentines Day Present

So I got a new phone for V-Day. It is so cute! It is a pink Samsung Behold, which is a touchscreen. I cant get an Iphone because we have Tmobile, so I have to settle with second best, story of my life. Anyway I love it! I hope I can figure out how to use everything. It has a 5 megapixle camera, which is cool.
Tonight Cody and I will be going to the Cheesecake Factory, for the first time. Then we will go up and see the movie "Taken", cant you tell I let him pick the movie. My Mother will be surviving our children, hopefully. My Mom gave us gift cards to the Cheesecake factory and Larry Miller theatres for Christmas, so our date is free tonight, YEAH!! Thanks Mom!

Dad's Birthday

So yesterday, the 10th, was my Dad's Birthday. Lets see, he would have been 73 years old. He is a lot younger than that where he is now. My Dad passed away almost 8 years ago. He was serving a mission in China, teaching English in the Xian Foreign Language College, when he passed. Look for the details of that event in April, on his death anniversary. Even though he is not here in person, he is always here in spirit. My whole family gets together and goes to dinner at Marie Calendars. This was my Dad's favorite place to go out, so we go there in honor of him. It was nice to get together with all my Sisters, Mom, Nieces and Nephews. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!

What A Best Friend Can Do

So I have decided to be mushy and dedicate a post to my best friend. I have realized over the past month some things that I never really dwelt on before. I have always told her that she has made me who I am today and I stand by that 100%. She also was a big influence on me at a time of need.
Let me take you back to 7th grade. I was a shy nerd with glasses that only had a few friends. All my grade school boyfriends started to realized that outer beauty is what counts. I was starting to mature and was very awkward looking. I went to a school a long ways away from home and didn't go to the same school as the kids in my church. I was alone that first day of school. I had to ride the bus to get to school and mostly sat by myself. I became anorexic, as you read from the last post. This disease made me feel like I was in control of my life. That was one thing I could control when everything else was spinning out of place.
One day I had this knock at my door it was a giant poster-board with a candy gram on it. Basically telling me that I was special and this person wanted me to be their friend. That is how I met Juls. From not too long after that day, all I can remember is being her friend. I know God sent her to be my friend. Through her I actual started eating, I came out of my shell and I flourished. By the middle of 8th grade all of the popular kids wanted me to be their friend. Juls
and I have only had one fight in all the time we have been friends. We will always be there for each other. She knows everything about me and always seem to be an inspiration. I love her like a sister and a friend. We have daughters that have been friends since they were born, they are only two weeks apart. It was fun being pregnant together!
I know God put us here together to be there for each other and look out for each other. Through some of her trials I have said things that I know God put those words in my mouth. I will always be here for her and would do anything for her. I feel like we are kindred spirits.

PoinDexter Einstein

So I couldn't do it. What couldn't I do, you say? Go too long with out an animal. So on one of our just visiting the shelters across town, we like to go to pet stores and shelters to visit. Well we actually found a dog that would work for us. So we decided to make him part of the family. I am making it a goal out loud, to the world, that we are keeping this dog until it dies. I cant go through losing another pet and either can my children.
If you don't know the back ground, to make a long story short, we had an Australian Shepard when we first moved it. She went to go live on a farm and be a cattle dog, after the babies were born. Then Cody talked me into getting a schnauzer puppy, when the babies were about 8-10 months old. We then added a friend for her, another schnauzer. After a while with them I couldn't take it, the babies were still too small, it was like I had quads and a four year old, instead of twins and a four year old. So we found nice homes for those two. Well its been awhile and everyone that knows me, I am a big animal freak. I would compare myself to Elmyra off of tiny toons. So I am going to make this dog work if it kills me.
We brought him home yesterday. He is a Jack Russell Terrier. They are a very smart breed, that's why his name his what it is, however we just call him Dexter and that might be shortened to Dex, once he learns his name. He is still a little shy, he likes to mark his territories and we have some work to do. It shouldn't be too long to get him trained, because of his breed. I am pretty knowledgeable in dogs and training, so hopefully we come around soon. My problem is Tabatha thinking she is in charge, so I have more training to do with my daughter than the dog.

Jumble of Mumble

So I have been off the band wagon for awhile and I have a lot to write about. First we had a wonderful Christmas. I think it was the first Christmas Cody had off for a long time. On Christmas Eve I went to my family Christmas party at my Mom's old ward. The last time we will have a party again, since my Mom moved. The nephews and nieces put on the nativity and exchanged gifts. I saw my niece Erin, who we are only 11 months apart, I haven't seen her for a couple years. Then on Christmas we woke up and opened gifts here and then went to Cody's Mom's for the rest of the day. We got to spend the whole day together and the next day as well.
Then Cody went to a paintball tournament last weekend on the second, in Mesquite. My husband is a professional paintball player in his spare time. Yes, he is sponsored and on a pro team. He went on Friday night, they played the game on Saturday and are usually home by 10-11pm. Well I spoke with him on Saturday afternoon at around 2pm. I kept trying to phone him from like 7pm on, to see where he was and how far out he was, he never answered his phone. At around midnight I started to get really worried and thinking the most horrible things of course. No one else that was with him, that I have a phone number for, would answer their phone's either. So I got down and prayed to have some peace to know that he was okay. The first thought that came to my mind was that I have a little boy in Heaven waiting to come to Earth and I can not have him without Cody. But I guess that wasn't good enough for me because one hour later at 1am I got down and prayed again for him to walk through the door or for him to call me. I got done praying and tried to phone him again and this time he answered. God answers prayers!
Speaking on that note on Friday night I was working on the computer, after I had put the kids to bed. Tabatha had come down once, trying to be sneaky and I saw her and she went up to bed. A little while later I felt someone pulling on my hair. I thought it was Tabatha again. I turned around and no one was there. That kind of freaks me out, but I told Cody about it and he had the same thought I did, that our son wants to get down here. I have a lot of experiences like that, I don't really like to share a lot of them, because most people would just think I am crazy. We already have our boy name picked out. We are not telling anyone because no one is named this yet and I don't want anyone to be named this. All I can see his the middle name will be Cody, that is a Duffin tradition that goes back for generations. The first boy's middle name is the name of the Father.
Yesterday was my birthday, I am now 29 years of age and one year out from the good 30. I went to work until Noon, because I still gotta pay the bills and I don't think it is a big deal to work on your birthday. I came home and Cody and I rocked out on Rock Band until dinner at 5:30pm at Iggy's. We went to dinner with my Brother in law Blake and my Mother in law Lynda and her Husband Theron and of course our children. We had a nice time. My Mother in law gave me a snow flake necklace that I have wanted for awhile now. I have earrings that match. Also they made the waiters sing to me and I was embarrassed. Today I am going to have dinner with my sister Deni and her family and I am pretty sure my sister JoDee and her family will be there too. I am so glad I have siblings that are my friends as well. You should always be able to count on family.

New Year

So I just haven't been in the blogging mood lately. I am currently trying to learn Portuguese with Rosetta Stone. It is a awesome program, however Portuguese is harder to learn than I thought. I even know Spanish and I think it makes it harder for me to learn Portuguese knowing Spanish because I keep wanting to pronounce it with Spanish influence. They are so different from each other. So when someone tells you that Portuguese is similar to Spanish, they don't know both languages.
Cody and I recently bought back our Xbox from his friend and we bought Rock Band 2, with Cody's bonus. This is something Cody and I love to do together and I am actually good at it. We played all New Years Eve night and all New Years day. We have a band together called" The Quack Quacks". This was inspired by our feety pajamas that we have with ducks on them, his our blue and mine our pink. Bailey and Brooklyn call the pajamas quack quacks, so there you have our band name. Cody plays the bass and I play the guitar. Our band motto is "husband and wife rockin for life", Cody came up with that all by himself.
Also on New Years Eve my best friend Juls came over with her cute kids and had dinner and played. The kids entertained themselves upstairs, after dinner and Julie and I watched "Mamma Mia". We both had never seen this before and I really didnt care for it too much. It was alright, but I am glad I didnt pay to see that in the Theatre.
So there you have a breif update.
